He suffers symptoms of sexual exhaustion just by fantasizing about sex. Symptoms include increased heart rate and mental fatigue.
Question:
Dr. Lin,
Your writings emphasize the negative effect from too much orgasm on the production of too much epinephrine and prostaglandin E-2 (while suppressing E-1), but can this response also be induced by sexual thoughts/arousal without orgasm, albeit to a lesser degree? I have noticed for a while now that just thinking about sexual things (even without sensory stimuli like pornography -- although that will make it worse) stimulates a physiological effect in my body/brain -- increased heart rate and, for lack of a better way to describe it, an over-excitability of my brain that can be mentally fatiguing. I take it that this is what you describe as nervous sympathetic firing
Intuitively, I realize that this cannot be healthy, since I connote these feelings with the 'flight or fight' stress feelings that you characterize as harmful. The problem is that I find that abstaining from all sexual thoughts is harder than abstaining from orgasm, which I have reduced to once every 7-10 days. While this addictive situation is not completely 'all the time' it seems to be now affecting me more often than not. When I do experience this I notice that my ability to achieve and maintain an erection is diminished compared to when I am not experiencing this 'sympathetic firing' (if that is what this is). So my question is:
Is this a similar physiological response, at least in some ways, to orgasm? And the corollary to that: if so, is this physiological response from sexual thoughts burning out my brain in a similar way that you describe happens from too much orgasm? Or is it something different entirely?
Thanks once again.
Answer:
Yes. Your adrenal medulla releases epinephrine, but your adrenal cortex is not supposed to release cortisol. If your adrenal cortex releases excessive cortisol to suppress the sex hormones DHEA, testosterone, DHT or the neurotransmitter oxytocin, epinephrine will be bound into the adrenergic alpha-2 receptors and you will experience a stress condition whenever you are sexually aroused or even think about sex. This response includes dizziness; tension pains in your head, body, pelvic cavity, prostate, tailbone, testicles and urethra; blurred vision, sleeping disorders or hangover; precum or semen leakage; a weak erection; and premature ejaculation. The problem proceeds as follows: Excessive sexual activity and over-ejaculation in the past has led to overproduction of androgen hormones, causing adrenal and sex organ fatigue, and excess release of dopamine to maintain prolonged sexual arousal. Since dopamine is the precursor to the stress hormone epinephrine (adrenaline), excess dopamine results in the adrenal glands overproducing epinephrine and putting the body in a prolonged state of fight-or-flight stress. At the same time, norepinephrine is synthesized from dopamine and released from the adrenal medulla into the blood as a hormone, along with the stress hormone cortisol. Epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol fuel the fight-or-flight response, directly increasing heart rate, triggering the release of glucose from energy stores, and increasing blood flow to skeletal muscle. All of this has a severely taxing effect on the body.
The hormone prostaglandin E-2, which serves an important function in sexual arousal, is also overproduced and has an inflammatory effect on the body, damaging tissues, nerves and joints, weakening immunity, causing muscular and nervous pain, and promoting infection, inflammation, and even cancer. Chronic elevation of epinephrine and prostaglandin E2 results in severe damage to brain cells and parasympathetic nerves in the liver, lungs, adrenal glands, heart, blood vessels, digestive system, pancreas, gallbladder, ovaries, uterus, cervix, testicles and prostate.
All of this over-activity and stress causes the pituitary gland and testicles (ovaries in women) to become disabled for a few days or even months, leading to a long refraction time or a long-term sexual exhaustion and inflammation. First, you will feel your muscles and joints become very tight and rigid upon ejaculation. An extremely exhausted adrenal function can cause an extreme low level of DHEA and cortisol, resulting in fatigue and pains throughout the body, including the back. The pain becomes severe at about 2-4 hours after ejaculating due to the sudden drop of DHEA, testosterone and DHT. You may experience pains for a couple of days until your prolactin and cortisol levels are returned to their normal ranges.
ViaPal-HGH-P, ArginOx and fish oil (1000 mg each meal) will help you gradually rejuvenate your neuro-endocrine function and boost your prostaglandin E-1/E-3, Oxytocin and Nitric Oxide production for erection and orgasm. American ginseng and maca help to rejuvenate your entire body. Horny goat weed and yohimbe will help increase flood flow and nutrient absorption for a harder erection and better ejaculation control. Damiana and saw palmetto will heal your prostate, which is responsible for producing and releasing semen and which is most likely overworked with your excessive sexual activity or masturbation.
