I’m Dreaming of a Not-White Christmas!

Woman has been experiencing semi-continual yeast infection, despite a number of different treatments. She has been tested for a number of STIs and everything has come back negative, however, she just can’t seem to shake this sticky situation. What’s causing her continual yeast overgrowth?

Case #: 879

Concern:

I am having this white, sticky, thick vaginal discharge that sometimes has a bit of yeast-like smell to it. I have gone to the gynecologist, and he keeps giving me prescriptions to treat the discharge (i.e. boric acid, oral flucuzanole, vaginal creams, etc.) but nothing seems to make it go away!!! I know it's not a STD since I have gotten checked for everything and all has come back negative, but the doctor still says it may be yeast. This is really frustrating and depressing. Do you have any advice?

Discussion:

I think the problem you’re experiencing is that the continual vaginal treatments, instead of working to cure your infection, have instead served to lower your vagina’s innate defensive abilities. Instead of helping your body to fight off the infections, the medications and creams have further irritated and weakened your vagina. However, it shouldn’t be too hard to get your vaginal fortitude back to healthy levels, preventing another yeast outbreak.

The first thing to do is to stop taking antibiotics, and using any kind of antifungal or antimicrobial vaginal douche or cream. These are helpful in curing yeast infections in instances when your body is strong enough to combine forces with them. Right now, you’ve almost got a chronic yeast infection going on, and you need to holistically change what’s going on in your body.

A Probiotic Program

By stopping antibiotic use, you give your body the chance to build up the levels of healthy probiotics in your vagina again. I’m sure you’re leery of any kind of bacteria in your vagina at this point, but you do need some, and a very specific kind. The lactobacillus bacterium normally exists inside your vagina, and promotes an acidic environment through its byproducts.

Your vagina needs this acidic environment to protect itself from other outside bacteria, and to prevent the overgrowth of the small numbers of non-lactobacillus bacteria inside the vagina. When the levels of these bacteria are overcome, your vagina loses this protective state, and yeast overgrowth occurs. Until these healthy defenses are re-erected, you will continue to have yeast infections.

101 Uses for Yogurt

In my opinion, it’s better to attack the problem of yeast from an organic perspective. Rather than relying on outside treatments to destroy the other bacteria, I think it’s best to increase the levels of the bacteria you do want. There are two very easy ways to do this: eat more yogurt, and put plain yogurt into your vagina until the infection clears up. Eating yogurt habitually will keep your body in healthy levels of lactobacillus, so long as you ensure that the yogurt you’re eating contains live, active cultures.

Putting plain yogurt into your vagina via a yogurt-soaked tampon and wearing a pad for a few days rapidly increases the levels of lactobacillus. This is the quickest way to restore your vagina to its optimal environment.

Immunity Boost

Besides your new pro-yogurt probiotic regimen, you should also consider taking an herbal supplement at this time that is designed to treat excess vaginal infection. (SEE: Vaginal Infection Relief & Detoxification Formula) This formula will help your body to detoxify and strengthen its immune defenses to prevent another outbreak of the yeast. The better your body is at filtering unnecessary elements, combined with healthy circulation and strong immunity, the less yeast infections you will have.

Take my advice, and I’m sure you’ll be free of that noxious annoyance sooner rather than later. Best of luck!

Antibiotics and birth control pills can alter the balance of the ‘friendly’ micro flora that subsists in the vagina. Pathogens from these drugs can result in yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis, with symptoms ranging from abnormal discharge,...
