hypertension
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, results in blood pressing against the walls of the veins with more force than necessary. The intending pressure can lead to kidney and heart failure, heart attack, stroke, problems with vision, and even impotence. Because hypertension exerts more pressure than necessary on the veins, the veins near the penis may not get a suitable amount of blood needed to gain an erection.
Not only do the veins lack the necessary blood, but also the medications used to combat hypertension can too constrict blood flow. Once the blood flow restricted to the penis, weak erections occur, morning erections disappear, and even erectile dysfunction takes place.
